Have you ever been eating a soft meal and feel something hard in your mouth?? You think to yourself, “Uh oh, this can’t be good.” Then you realize it’s a piece of your tooth. Broken teeth are a fairly common problem that patients face from time to time. No need to panic…a broken tooth can usually be saved and Dr. Gretchen and Sweet Tooth Dental can help!

  1. Give us a call. First, we will get you scheduled for a limited exam to see what’s going on with the tooth. Usually broken teeth happen when a tooth has a very large filling and the remaining natural tooth structure is weak. Let’s see what’s happening and make a plan.
  2. If there is a filling still in place, then Dr. Gretchen would remove the old filling, clean and disinfect the tooth making sure there is no active decay, then build up what’s left of the tooth. Sometimes this is all that may be necessary to support and strengthen your tooth.
  3. In other cases, the tooth may still be too weak following the build up that a full coverage restoration or crown may be necessary. If so, no need to fret as Dr. Gretchen works with the best dental labs in business to help make you a natural and beautiful porcelain crown to cover your tooth. It will look and feel just like your own…maybe even better!

If you find yourself in a similar situation as described above or you have any questions or concerns, we are here for you! Let us know if we can help. Call 985.764.7792.
